the Cottonwood

Third of four sister cabins. Identical bones — same kitchen, same morning light — named for the cottonwoods, the riverbank giants you can spot from a mile off.

Why The Cottonwood
The Cottonwood — Plate 08 Plate 08 — Giant by the river, June
Botanical illustrations · a touchpoint to the name

Cottonwoods are the giants of the riverbank. Broad-trunked, tall enough to be visible from a mile off, almost always standing where there’s water nearby. Out here, if you’re hiking through unfamiliar country and you spot a cottonwood crown on the horizon, you’ll find a stream or a meadow or a pond at its base nine times out of ten. They’re beacons.

Where there are cottonwoods, there’s almost always more. Deer come down to drink, elk pass through at dawn, moose wade out into the shallows. The trees mark the places where the country opens up and the wildlife gathers.

What guests say
  • Great place to stay with a super accessible location! Having lived in the valley before, I was excited to see a rental available in this location. Super close to Glacier but still only a mile from Columbia Falls and all the restaurants there!

  • I absolutely loved my stay here. The pictures did not do the home justice as I felt it was even cuter than the pictures show. My pups and I enjoyed a short stay while visiting Glacier National Park. I hope to return someday and would be thrilled to stay here again! The hosts were polite, responsive, and helpful.

  • This home was cozy and well appointed with lots of amenities. I loved the coffee bar and the new deck! It was the perfect place to have morning coffee and work remotely. The view is beautiful and peaceful. I would definitely stay here again!
